11. Lockheed P-38L-5LO
Lockheed P-38, or also known as the Lightning, was constructed in 1944. It was commonly used during the Pacific War as a war-bird due to its speed and altitude level. There were around 10,000 of them made. However, it is an extremely rare model today. So rare that no one can really put a price on it.
This USA aircraft is 11.5 meters long and 15.8 meters span. Its cruise speed is around 450 km/h. But if you push it through, it can go up to 760 km/h. It was definitely the fastest among its kind back then. In terms of altitude, it can go up to 3,620 km high.
The Lightning is equipped with two Allison V1710 engines. Each of them has 1,600 horsepower. That is why it can go so fast and so high.
Red Bull’s Lightning is registered N25Y within the American registration. It is arguably the most beautiful and well-maintained one in the world.
