The most famous TV tower in the world, the Oriental Pearl opened in 1994 and features 11 spheres, big and small. Those 11 spheres are linked by 3 columns, sitting on the shores of Shanghai.
Its structure has quite an interesting meaning. Few people know about the Chinese symbolism in the design. It is said to be based on a verse of the Tang Dynasty poem ‘Pipa Song’ by Bai Juyi.
The Oriental Pearl Tower is one of the most photographed buildings in the world, especially in 2007, when the building was host to the Chinese Live Earth concert.
