11. Emerald and Diamond Ring ($3.3 million)
I mentioned about the Emerald Suite of jewelry designed by Bulgari. And this emerald and diamond ring is a part of it. The suite itself consists of necklace, bracelet, ear pendants, pendant brooch, and ring. We will see some of them later on this list.
Richard Burton gave this ring, along with the jewelry set, after he made several trips to the Italian jewelry house’s boutique for five years. Yup, he went back and forth from 1962 to 1967. He meant business to come up with the best set of jewelry for his wife.
The center of the ring is a rectangular-cut emerald. Surrounding the stone are triangular-cut diamonds which were mounted in platinum.
Christie’s estimated the value of this ring at around $600,000 to $800,000 only. But an anonymous buyer was willing to pay $3,330,500. That is a staggering amount for an emerald ring.
